Perhaps I should explain that a heat pump keeps the cabin toasty using heat from the battery which otherwise would have been wasted.
There are lots of squishy materials on the seats, dash and doors. I’m not sure it will stand up to family life – and dog paws – but it’s comfy enough and there are sockets and pockets for everyone on board.
Now for some driving impressions.
Unlike Leapmotor’s bigger cars, B03X is front-wheel drive, so the handling is more predictable and reassuring.
The battery pack is part of the structure of the car, which is good for strength and safety and handling, and frees up more interior space.
The e-motor produces 197hp which is probably a little bit too much for this kind of car. You might light up the tyres pulling out of Tesco on a damp day. So don’t mash the accelerator, Maureen.
Range? About 200 miles in the real world. Which is the norm for a 50-55kWh battery. Charging to 80 per cent takes 21 minutes or just leave it on trickle charge at home overnight.
Final observations.
The designers have added a bit of personality to this car with smiley face rear lights and little “Leapy” characters dotted about the place.
But passion magnet?
I’d go by Uber on a first date.
