The Mansa Sessions Court on Friday fixed October 9 for arguments on a plea seeking a production warrant for gangster Anmol Bishnoi, an accused in the murder of Punjabi singer Shubhdeep Singh, alias Sidhu Moosewala, to bring him from Tihar Jail in Delhi.The development came after the State filed its reply to the plea today. The court supplied a copy of the reply to the defence and fixed the matter for arguments on the next date of hearing.Anmol Bishnoi’s counsel had filed the plea on February 27, seeking a production warrant to bring him from Tihar Jail and take him into custody in the case. The plea had been pending as the State had not filed its reply. On August 28, the court had again directed the State to file its reply and fixed September 18 for the next hearing.Meanwhile, prosecution witness Sub-Inspector Gurlal Singh appeared before the court and was examined. His further cross-examination was deferred at the request of the defence, and he was directed to appear again on the next hearing.Two hard disks and a pen drive produced during his evidence were made part of the court record. The case property produced in court was subsequently sealed again and returned to the police station concerned.The court also directed that several prosecution witnesses, including Dr Ashwani Kalia, Inspector Pritpal Singh and Jashandeep Singh, who did not appear despite being informed over the phone, be summoned for the next hearing. Senior Constable Baltej Singh and the remaining prosecution witnesses were also directed to appear at the next hearing.The court also considered an application filed by accused Pawan Kumar Bishnoi seeking permanent exemption from personal appearance. A copy of the application was supplied to the prosecution for its reply and consideration at the next hearing.Arguments on a separate application filed by accused Manpreet Singh, alias Mani Raiya, seeking to recall prosecution witness Gurpreet Singh under Section 311 of the CrPC, could not be advanced.The accused in custody were produced before the court through video conferencing. Accused Prabhdeep Singh, alias Babbi, did not appear before the court. His counsel sought exemption from personal appearance for the day, which was allowed.Moosewala was shot dead at Jawaharke village on May 29, 2022.
