The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) on Monday cornered the Opposition for defending Jagga Singh of Sangrur, who is facing nine cases, including those under the NDPS Act.The Opposition had accused the AAP government of being “insensitive” and “ignoring” the pleas of the Namol resident over easy availability of drugs. Jagga had reportedly consumed a poisonous substance in the Sangrur Administrative Complex yesterday.The Opposition had ignored the ground reality of Namol village, said AAP, adding that Jagga had been convicted in four cases.AAP said two panchayats, gurdwara committees, farm organisations and villagers had united against drug sales in the area. Respective SAD-BJP regimes and the Congress had protected drug peddlers, said AAP.The Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann-led AAP government had broken the political protection nexus and disrupted the supply lines through its “Yudh Nashian Virudh” campaign, said AAP Punjab chief Aman Arora.Referring to the Namol incident, he said, “A young man consumed some poisonous substance outside the Sangrur DC office and was subsequently hospitalised yesterday. However, look at the kind of dirty politics that has been taking place since yesterday. This is the latest example of how an incident is being used to defame the state government.”
