The CPI(ML) New Democracy organised a state-level rally at the new grain market in Moga on Saturday, drawing thousands of workers, farmers, youth, employees and women from across Punjab.The rally was dedicated to the memory of Comrade Baldev Singh Mann.Addressing the gathering, senior party leaders Sardara Singh Mahal, Darshan Singh Khatkar and Kulwinder Singh Waraich accused the BJP-RSS-led central government of promoting a “Manuwadi” and communal outlook.Citing the replacement of MGNREGA with the “G-RAMG” scheme and the implementation of the four labour codes, they alleged rising atrocities against Dalits, backward classes, workers, minorities and communists.They also alleged that the country’s federal structure was being undermined, pointing to the Dam Safety Act and the removal of permanent membership from the Bhakra Beas Management Board, and accused the government of pushing “One Nation, One Election” and a uniform civil code to centralise power.The leaders further alleged that constitutional institutions, including the judiciary and the Election Commission, were being brought under government influence, and claimed the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls was being used to delete voters unlawfully.They also alleged that journalists and activists critical of the government were being implicated in false cases.Shahi Imam of Punjab Maulana Muhammad Usman Rahmani Ludhianvi, who attended the rally, appealed for unity among all religions and classes.Kirti Kisan Union state president Nirbhai Singh Dhudike and Pendu Majdoor Union state president Tarsem Singh Peter also spoke, alleging that the Centre was planning large “cluster farms” despite the repeal of the three farm laws, and urged people to remain watchful.Party speakers called for a mass struggle against what they termed the “corporate-fascist alliance” and urged people to defeat the BJP in the coming elections. A Kavisri jatha from Rasulpur performed revolutionary ballads during the event. Comrade Gurmukh Singh was the stage secretary.
