Haryana Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini on Saturday accused the AAP of using Shaheed Bhagat Singh’s name to make “false promises” to the people of Punjab, alleging that AAP leader Arvind Kejriwal had invoked the martyr’s name, honesty and employment for 20 lakh youths during the campaign to mislead voters.Saini said Bhagat Singh had sacrificed his life with the vision that future generations could breathe freely and live secure lives. He alleged that the AAP government had “insulted” the martyr and should apologise to the people of Punjab for making false promises in his name.“The Aam Aadmi Party is no longer an ‘Aam Aadmi’ party, but has become a ‘Khaas Aadmi’ party,” Saini said, alleging that the party had no concern for the youth.Addressing public representatives from Nawanshahr at Sant Kabir Kutir (official residence in Chandigarh), Saini further urged the people of Punjab to unite against drugs, saying that a drug-free Punjab was necessary to make the state economically strong and prosperous.He alleged that the “wrong policies” of the Congress and AAP had pushed Punjab backwards, and accused the AAP government of being more corrupt than the Congress. He further alleged that both parties had worked to “loot” Punjab and its people.Saini said the AAP and Congress had promised jobs for youth, corruption- and drug-free governance and farmers’ welfare, but people had become disappointed with their “hollow promises”. He claimed that people who had earlier rejected the Congress would now “show the AAP government the door”.Saini added Punjab was not merely a state but a symbol of culture, thought and spirit, and was once the number-one state in the country. He described it as the sacred land of gurus, saints, martyrs and brave hearts.Referring to Haryana, Saini said the BJP government had set an example by providing jobs to youth without “parchi-kharchi”. He said that if BJP’s government was formed in Punjab, development would be undertaken on the lines of Haryana, and welfare policies would be implemented in a similar manner.Saini said the Haryana Government had enacted a law against those who play with the future of the youth through “dunki routes”. Strict action would be taken against those involved and their centres could also be sealed, he said.The CM said Haryana had also established a Foreign Service Department to help youth secure employment abroad. The department brings vacancies from foreign countries, after which youth are selected and sent abroad for employment.Saini also welcomed a team led by Tempo Union president, Kamaljit Rana, into the BJP by draping party scarves around its members.Haryana Public Works Minister Ranbir Singh Gangwa said wherever Saini had campaigned, the BJP organisation had strengthened, and the party had subsequently formed governments. Referring to Saini’s campaigns in Maharashtra, Delhi and Assam, Gangwa said he was now campaigning in Punjab, where the BJP’s support base was “continuously expanding”.
