Delhi court takes 66 yrs to decide land dispute. And it’s not over yet | India News

NEW DELHI: A Tis Hazari court has taken nearly 66 years to adjudicate a dispute over a piece of land in west Delhi, with two generations of a couple of warring families slugging it out.The civil suit was filed on May 23, 1959 and the judgment delivered this Feb 3. The long-drawn litigation witnessed multiple judges hearing the case and several lawyers appearing for the parties – both the original litigants are dead – before civil judge Kapil Gupta concluded that the suit is not maintainable in its present form and the order is most likely to be challenged by the aggrieved party.Advocate Amit Kumar, who represents one of the parties, said it is not the end of the legal battle as the case is likely to go to the district session judge and then possibly to higher courts. The parties should prepare for further rounds, he said, adding three judges heard the case in the past three years.Check out the latest news about Delhi Election Results, including key constituencies such as New Delhi, Kalkaji, Jangpura, Okhla, Patparganj, Ballimaran, Madipur, Hari Nagar, Rajinder Nagar, Tri Nagar, Sultanpur Majra, Wazirpur and Gandhi Nagar.
