Tucked away from the city’s hustle and bustle lies a retreat with sprawling lawns, a serene pool and a menu that celebrates modern Indian cuisine with a twist. Welcome to Savoir at OG Retreat, a refreshing new entrant on the resort scene in New Chandigarh. Whether you’re planning a leisurely meal or a staycation, this place offers the perfect escape, close to the city, yet delightfully removed from its chaos.Set amidst lush greenery, the property features a luxurious three-bedroom villa with an expansive lobby and a full-service restaurant. Guests can choose to stay overnight or simply drop in for a day of indulgence, be it enjoying a delectable meal, lounging by the pool or simply soaking in the green views. At the heart of this retreat is Harish Jain, a man who has transitioned from publishing to the culinary world, seamlessly blending both passions. Spread over three acres, the retreat also houses his personal office where he reads and writes. As invested in the menu as he is in his reading, Jain recently published a play ‘Gunahgar’, based on historic events. The culinary experience at Savoir is in the capable hands of Executive Chef Tushar Sood, a Himachal native with an impressive resume spanning luxury kitchens across India. “What we offer is Indian cuisine with a fusion twist,” says Chef Sood, who brings his expertise in continental flavours to the table. The menu is as eclectic as it is exciting. For starters, there’s the Vijaywada cocktail samosa — a crispy square delight filled with cheese and nuts. The paneer khurchan moplah tawa features flavourful paneer bhurji atop house-made moplah pao (a take on focaccia). In a surprising fusion, soya champ with pad thai noodles brings together Punjabi spice with Thai finesse.Mocktails also make a splash, with refreshing picks like Apple Ignite and the crisp Cucumber Summer Cooler.Fusion extends to the soups as well — rasam infused with minestrone marries South Indian spice with Italian flair, while the Burmese samosa soup with coriander crush makes a bold, flavourful statement. Chicken lovers can opt for the murg dhania shorba, delicately infused with coconut milk. The main course continues this adventurous culinary journey, from keema matar quinoa pulao to kimchi-flavoured raita, every dish is a celebration of flavour and imagination. Staples such as falafel & hummus, classic Arrabbiata pasta and thin-crust pizzas are also on offer. And of course, there’s the indulgent nihari and rich butter chicken, best enjoyed with crisp butter naan.Desserts don’t hold back either, the butterscotch dal bahaar (halwa served with ice cream) and the gulkand kaju Biscoff kheer make for sweet endings.Just a short drive away, Savoir at OG Retreat is an ideal getaway for families too, with plenty of open space for kids to run around, fun activities to enjoy and a memorable meal to share.
