Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Friday urged Chief Ministers and LGs to ensure advance planning in the agriculture sector in the wake of the West Asia crisis.In a virtual meeting, he particularly stressed monitoring fertiliser storage and distribution.The Prime Minister asked the Chief Ministers to ensure smooth functioning of supply chains and take strict measures against hoarding and profiteering.A PMO statement said the CMs expressed confidence that the situation was stable, with adequate availability of petrol, diesel, and LPG in their States.Cautioning against the spread of misinformation and rumours, Modi emphasised dissemination of accurate and credible information.He expressed confidence that working together as “Team India,” the nation will successfully overcome the situation and stressed that the Government’s priorities are to maintain economic and trade stability, ensure energy security, safeguard the interests of citizens, and strengthen industry and supply chains.Modi today welcomed the decisions to reduce excise duty on fuel amid global uncertainties and increase in commercial LPG allocation to states.
