After rapper Badshah drew criticism for the vulgar lyrics of his ‘Tateeree’ song, Haryanvi singer and artist Masoom Sharma has now landed in controversy once again. The Haryana State Commission for Women has now summoned Masoom not for the lyrics of his songs, but for allegedly using abusive language during a live performance at DAV College in Dehradun, Uttarakhand, recently.Masoom has been directed to appear in person before the HSCW Chairperson in Panchkula on April 18 at 11 am. He has also been asked to submit a detailed explanation clarifying his position in the matter. The notice further warns that failure to comply with the summons may invite appropriate action under the relevant provisions of the Act.“It has come to the notice of the Commission that during a recent program held at DAV College, Dehradun, you allegedly used abusive language and indulged in conduct unbecoming of a public figure. And whereas such acts, if proven, are a matter of serious concern, particularly in the context of maintaining dignity, decency, and respect towards women in society,” reads the notice issued to Masoom Sharma on Sunday. The notice further states that the Commission is empowered under the provisions of the Haryana State Commission for Women Act, 2012, particularly Section 10(1)(f) & Section 10(1)(h), to call for information, summon individuals, and conduct inquiries into matters relating to deprivation of women’s rights and issues affecting their dignity.Confirming the development, Renu Bhatia said that since both girls and boys study at the college and were also present at the programme, the use of abusive language by a public figure during a public function is “completely unacceptable.”As per information, Masoom had delivered a live performance at the college on Saturday, which was also attended by Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami. However, after the CM left the venue, Masoom allegedly lost his temper and used objectionable language on stage, leaving police personnel, college staff, and students uncomfortable. However, in a subsequent video message, Masoom issued an apology, stating that he had been under mental stress at the time of the incident.
