Senior Congress leader Jairam Ramesh on Friday questioned Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s silence on Operation Sindoor and remarks attributed to US President Donald Trump, while taking issue with the Prime Minister’s address in the Rajya Sabha on Thursday evening. In a post on X, Ramesh referred to Trump’s repeated claims that he had intervened to halt Operation Sindoor on May 10, 2025. He said the Prime Minister had not responded to the assertions, despite them being made publicly from Washington DC, and added that the continued silence raised serious unanswered questions.“The Prime Minister revealed yet again last evening in the Rajya Sabha what a huge bundle of insecurities, what a perennial peddler of lies, what a storehouse of prejudices, and what a source of sheer bile and poison he is. He described the address as “pathetic” and alleged that the Prime Minister avoided substantive questions, focusing instead on what he termed long-held grievances.According to Ramesh, the speech offered no clarity on matters of national importance and relied on assertions rather than explanations. He said the Prime Minister “answered none of the serious questions” raised during the debate.Ramesh also revisited Modi’s remarks following the June 2020 Galwan Valley clash in eastern Ladakh, in which 20 Indian soldiers were killed. He referred to the Prime Minister’s statement of June 19, 2020, which he described as a “clean chit” to China, and alleged that the issue had not been addressed in Parliament since.
