With global debates on artificial intelligence moving beyond risks and ethics, India is positioning the upcoming India AI Impact Summit-2026 as a platform focused on translating AI principles into real-world outcomes, officials said here on Monday.Scheduled to be held in New Delhi from February 16 to 20, the summit is expected to bring together governments, industry leaders, researchers and civil society groups from over 100 countries to deliberate on how artificial intelligence can be deployed responsibly and inclusively across sectors.Officials said the summit reflects the evolving trajectory of global AI discussions — from an initial emphasis on safety and risks at Bletchley Park, to ethics and inclusion in Seoul, and operational frameworks in Paris — with India now seeking to anchor conversations around execution, deployment and measurable impact.The event is expected to see participation from 15–20 heads of governments, more than 50 ministers and over 40 CEOs from leading global and Indian companies. Around 500 AI startups will showcase applications across healthcare, governance, education and climate solutions, alongside nearly 500 sessions planned over five days.”More than 35,000 registrations have already been received,” a senior official said, indicating strong international interest in India’s approach to AI governance and deployment.He said the summit underlines India’s ambition to emerge as a bridge between advanced AI economies and the Global South, as demand for technology-driven solutions rises amid constraints on resources and infrastructure.
