He confirms that singers will maintain their place in the industry amidst changing dynamics and technological advancements. Singer Amaal Mallik recently opened up about actors who sing in their films and who according to him have a good voice. In conversation with Bollywood Bubble, Amaal discussed actors who sing in movies. He mentioned that actors like Shraddha Kapoor and Salman Khan have sung for his songs. He emphasized that the intent behind singing is crucial. Amaal believes it’s wrong to not release a song that has been recorded by an established or new singer, but then re-recorded by an actor without sharing the original version.Mallik also shared his thoughts on the intent behind actors singing in films. He believes that intent is key, especially when it comes to songs being sung by actors for marketing purposes. He mentioned that while Salman Khan sang Main Hoon Hero Tera in Hero with auto-tune, the release of Armaan Malik’s original version gave it a sense of “poetic justice,” as it provided the song with its true essence. The singer further elaborated that having both versions of a song works well from a marketing perspective, and actors can explore their musical talents through indie-pop albums. He emphasized that the current industry has changed, and anyone can become a singer on platforms like Instagram. However, not every voice suits playback singing—he gave the example that Anuv Jain’s voice, while perfect for indie music, may not work for a film like Ajay Devgn’s.Amaal emphasized that the intention behind actors singing matters. If actors sing just to replace established singers, it becomes pointless. He believes that singers will always have their rightful place in the industry, regardless of advancements like AI.Mallik also shared that although he has composed 125 songs, he has sung only three himself, as singers bring unique emotions to a track. He carefully selects voices that fit the song, whether it’s Armaan, Arijit, or Vishal. He finds it acceptable for actors to sing if it’s for marketing or personal exploration.Amaal Mallik mentioned that actors like Jacqueline and Shehnaaz are exploring singing, and he praised Shraddha and Parineeti as talented singers.
