Of the nine aides of Amritpal, who were brought from Dibrugarh jail in Assam after their NSA detention ended and were subsequently arrested in the Ajnala police station case, Harjit Singh, Kulwant Singh, Basant Singh, and Bhagwant Singh alias “Pardhanmantri Bajeke” are currently lodged in Bathinda jail.

Speaking over the phone, Tarsem Singh, father of Amritpal Singh, said, “Harjit is my younger brother, aged about 54. He had been on a hunger strike in Bathinda jail for the past few days, demanding a physical meeting (‘mulaqat’) with visitors rather than speaking over the telephone from behind a glass wall. Additionally, he wanted to speak with his family settled in Canada over the phone. Since his demands were not being met, he began a hunger strike. His health deteriorated today, and he has been admitted to a hospital there.”

Regarding the ongoing investigation in the Gurpreet Singh Hari Nau murder case, and reports that police are seeking information from the dating app Tinder, allegedly linked to Amritpal, Tarsem said, “We have full faith in Waheguru. Amritpal has not committed any crime. Let the state and centre governments do whatever they want.”
