With just 53 days left for the March 31, 2026, deadline for eliminating Naxalism from the country, Union Home Minister Amit Shah on Sunday asserted that the surviving Naxals should not be allowed to escape to other states.Chairing a security review meeting on Left-Wing Extremism (LWE) in Raipur during the ongoing visit to Chhattisgarh, Shah said that Naxalism was on its last legs and that the menace would be eliminated by the set date.He added that the ongoing fight against Naxals must not be scattered. Stressing on the need for smooth coordination between various states and central agencies, he said that the remaining Naxals must not be allowed to flee to other states.Shah further said that the security-centric strategy of the Centre and the Chhattisgarh Government, along with strikes on the Naxals’ financial network and the surrender policy, had yielded positive results.He further noted that Chhattisgarh has made remarkable progress on both the security and development fronts. He asserted that it must be ensured that people in Naxal-affected areas receive equal opportunities for development.Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai, Union Home Secretary Govind Mohan, Intelligence Bureau (IB) Director Tapan Deka, state’s Chief Secretary and the DGs of Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF), National Investigation Agency (NIA), Border Security Force (BSF), Indo-Tibet Border Police (ITBP) as well as Home Secretaries and Director Generals of Police of Chhattisgarh, Telangana, Jharkhand, Odisha and Maharashtra attended the meeting.
