A major security breach at the Delhi Legislative Assembly took a new turn as Delhi Police sources revealed crucial details about the arrested accused, Sarabjeet Singh, indicating that he was mentally disturbed and undergoing treatment since December 2025.According to preliminary investigations, Sarabjeet, a resident of Puranpur in Uttar Pradesh’s Pilibhit district, had been under significant emotional distress in recent days.His nephew, Harman Singh, has reportedly been missing since April 1, with a missing person’s complaint registered at the Hari Nagar Police Station.Family members told investigators that Sarabjeet had been deeply affected by the disappearance and had even travelled to Nangal in search of the boy but returned unsuccessful.Sources said that following his failed search, Sarabjeet got into an argument with family members and left for Delhi. Concerned about his deteriorating mental condition, the family allegedly told him that Harman had been found, to calm him. However, instead of stabilising, his behaviour remained erratic.Police further revealed that Sarabjeet had initially planned to visit the Gurdwara Bangla Sahib with a bouquet. However, he never reached the spot and instead drove into the Assembly premises, triggering a major security scare. The motive behind his actions has not yet been established, and officials say he has not clearly explained his intent during questioning.Investigators have also traced his movements leading up to the incident. Sarabjeet reportedly left his home in Pilibhit on April 1 and remained in contact with his family for only one night. He travelled to Bareilly on April 2, before reaching Delhi on the day of the breach. Throughout this period, he did not disclose his location or purpose of travel to his family.Family members have told police that Sarabjeet’s behaviour becomes uncontrollable during episodes linked to his illness, and that he often stops listening to anyone around him during such phases. This pattern, they believe, may have contributed to the scenario that unfolded in Delhi.According to his Facebook profile, Sarabjeet is self-employed and completed his schooling from Springdale College in Pilibhit, later pursuing higher education from a college in Bareilly.While the investigation is ongoing, officials are focusing on piecing together his psychological condition, travel trail, and possible triggers behind the incident.The breach has raised serious concerns over security preparedness at one of the capital’s most sensitive government establishments, even as police continue to probe all angles, including the accused’s mental health and personal distress.
