Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Wednesday chaired a meeting of the Cabinet Committee on Security in the wake of the West Asia war and discussed its impact on six sectors, including agriculture, fertilisers and aviation.The meeting also discussed interventions on shipping, logistics and MSMEs to mitigate the emerging challenge.A PMO statement said supply diversification for LPG and LNG, fuel duty reduction and power sector measures were reviewed to ensure stability of essential supplies and the PM noted that there were enough coal stocks to prepare for the power demand as the summer looms.Steps being taken to ensure stable prices of essential commodities and strict action against hoarding and black-marketing came up for discussions with the PM directing ministers and officials to ensure the common citizen is protected from impacts of the crisis.Control rooms have been set up for constant monitoring and interaction with states/UTs on prices and enforcement of the Essential Commodities Act, the statement said, adding that various efforts are being made to ensure fertiliser supply.The PM was informed that there were enough fertiliser stocks for the kharif sowing season.The PM assessed the availability of critical needs for the common man and discussed the availability of fertilisers in the country and steps being taken to ensure its availability in the kharif and rabi seasons.He said all efforts must be made to safeguard the citizens from the impact of the conflict.“The PM underlined the need for timely and smooth flow of authentic information to the public to prevent misinformation and rumour-mongering,” the official statement on the meeting said.
