At least 12 persons from four Bathinda-based families are stranded in Dubai amid the ongoing conflict between the US and Iran, which have disrupted flight operations in parts of the UAE.Among those stranded are Dr Neeru Garg, Principal of SSD Girls’ College, and her husband Prof Parveen Garg, who recently retired as Vice-Principal of DAV College. The others include three members of a family from Power House Road, three from Veer Colony and four from Bibi Wala Road.The educator couple had been left stranded due to temporary suspension of airport operations in Sharjah.Neeru Garg on Tuesday morning told The Tribune, “The internet connectivity is poor here, and we are not aware of the status of our evacuation yet.” Garg, along with her husband had travelled to Dubai for a leisure trip from February 23 to 28. The couple first moved to a hotel, then uploaded a video seeking help, and later shifted to the residence of a Bathinda resident’s relative.The local college authorities said their efforts to contact the couple were proving futile.Mann dials Union ministerChandigarh: Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann called up Union Civil Aviation Minister Kinjarapu Ram Mohan Naidu and urged him to ensure the safe evacuation of Punjabis stranded in the strife-torn West Asia.Taking to X, Mann said, “The Union Minister has assured that necessary arrangements will be made for the safe return of Punjabis from Arab countries.” He said for assistance, people could contact the NRI wing control room at 0172-2260042, 0172-2260043, and WhatsApp number 91 94787 79112.
