On the 344th birth anniversary of Baba Deep Singh, religious events were organised under the leadership of Damdami Taksal chief Giani Harnam Singh Khalsa with great enthusiasm at the historic Janam Asthan Baba Deep Singh Ji Shaheed in Pahuwind.Many prominent Panthic personalities, Sikh scholars, narrators, poets and ‘ragi’ groups, in addition to a large ‘sangat’, were the attendees of the event.The programme included a ‘bhog’ of the Akhand Path. After the ‘ardaas’ and the main speech, the Jatha of Hazuri Raagi Bhai Jagtar Singh of Sachkhand Harmandir Sahib, Amritsar, held a ‘kirtan’, while Singh Sahib Giani Parvinderpal Singh, Granthi Sachkhand, Harmandir Sahib, Amritsar, performed a ‘katha’.Advocate Harjinder Singh Dhami, president, Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee, congratulated the congregation on the event.Baba Deep Singh attained martyrdom on the battlefield while fighting to restore the sanctity of the Harmandir Sahib, and stop the desecration of gurdwaras, he said, appealing to the ‘sangat’ to take inspiration from the life of Baba Deep Singh, receive the gift of ‘amrit’, and live according to the teachings of Sikhism.Bhai Ajaib Singh, practicing member of the Shiromani Committee, also addressed the gathering at the event.
