In a major development in the ‘Bade Miyan Chote Miyan’ controversy, producer Vashu Bhagnani has filed an FIR against the film’s director, Ali Abbas Zafar, along with co-producer Himanshu Mehra and finance head Ekesh Randive. The allegations include financial fraud, forgery, and criminal misconduct during the film’s production.The FIR, registered on December 8 at Bandra Police Station, follows a court order from December 2, states a report on Free Press Journal. Bhagnani had initially lodged a formal complaint in September, claiming severe financial irregularities and contractual breaches. The FIR was filed under multiple offences under the Indian Penal Code, including Section 120B (Criminal conspiracy), Section 406 (Criminal breach of trust), Section 420 (Cheating), Section 464 (Making a false document), Section 468 (Forgery for the purpose of cheating), Section 471 (Using a forged document), Section 500 (Defamation) and Section 506 (Criminal intimidation).According to Bhagnani, the accused conspired to inflate production costs, forge invoices, and misappropriate funds. The production budget, originally set at Rs 125 crore (excluding actor fees), was allegedly increased to Rs 154 crore without justification. The FIR also details specific instances of alleged misconduct, including overspending on luxury accommodations, equipment rentals, and external vendors without proper approvals.Bhagnani further alleged that his signatures were ‘forged’ and that the director inflated costs to extract additional funds. The producer previously attempted to seek police help on the matter back in September 2024. However, as the matter did not yield any results, it prompted him to approach the Bandra Court which then ordered the police to take action.
