Himachal PWD Minister Vikramaditya Singh has asked tourists to act responsibly or face action if they indulge in inappropriate behaviour.The minister’s warning comes in the wake of certain videos circulating on social media showing tourists in scanty clothes.The minister, in a post, said while tourists were welcome to the state, acts that dishonoured the dignity of “Dev Bhoomi” won’t be tolerated. “Himachal is not just a place for sightseeing; it is a land steeped in spirituality, culture, and ancient traditions,” he wrote.He further said some tourists had been seen in objectionable photos and videos on social media, behaving inappropriately at religious sites, on roads, and in public places. “Such behaviour deeply hurts the sentiments of the local people and disrespects the state’s culture.”It was expected of tourists to respect the local customs and traditions, and avoid inappropriate photo shoots near religious sites, and rowdy behaviour, he said.“If anyone disrespects our culture and faith, they will face the consequences of the law and a strong reaction from the community,” he wrote.
