Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann on Saturday launched a scathing attack on the alleged failures in foreign policy by the Central government, accusing them of selling the country’s sovereignty to the US.Mann, speaking to mediapersons after the Cabinet meeting, minced no words when asked about the US giving permission to India to buy Russian oil.He said that though the BJP was trying to project its leaders as “Vishwaguru” (world teacher), this showed that they had become “Vishwachela” (world disciple).“Do we have to seek permission from the White House for everything now? Has India’s sovereignty been lost? Prime Minister Modi should clarify this,” said the Punjab Chief Minister.Mann said that the Punjab government would oppose the Electricity Amendment Bill, slated to be introduced in Parliament on March 10.“Power, just like Health and Education, are state subjects, and we won’t allow any central interference in state subjects. We will oppose this tooth and nail,” he said. When asked about the ruling party painting state transport buses in the AAP colours of yellow and blue, Mann said that the buses were private ones, being operated under the kilometre scheme.“The bus operators are free to choose any colours they want. But those questioning this should first tell the masses why they painted the amphibious buses bought for Harike and the state government helicopter in Akali colours?” he asked.
