The blockbuster run of Ranveer Singh’s ‘Dhurandhar: The Revenge’ has prompted the makers of ‘Bhooth Bangla’, which marks superstar Akshay Kumar’s reunion with Priyadarshan, to defer its release by a week.In a statement, producer Ekta R Kapoor said the film will now release on April 16, shifting from its earlier date of April 10, and the first show will start at 9 pm.She said the move will allow both ‘Bhooth Bangla’ and ‘Dhurandhar: The Revenge’, the “attention they deserve”.”After a collective call with our distributors and the exhibitors, we have decided on a new release date for Bhooth Bangla, 16th April, with the first show starting at 9 pm.”‘Dhurandhar: The Revenge’ performing exceptionally well is a heartening news for our film industry and the exhibitors feel that this shift will allow both films, the space, focus and attention they deserve. The ‘Bhooth Bangla’ team looks forward to welcoming you in cinemas on April 16th 9 pm onwards,” Kapoor said.‘Dhurandhar: The Revenge’ is a sequel to filmmaker Aditya Dhar’s 2025 blockbuster ‘Dhurandhar’. The movie released in theatres on March 19 and has collected over Rs 1300 crore at the global box office.The move to April 16 marks the second time ‘Bhooth Bangla’ has changed its release date. It was originally slated for May 15.Kumar has worked with veteran filmmaker Priyadarshan on several hit comedies such as ‘Hera Pheri’, ‘Garam Masala’, ‘Bhool Bhulaiyaa’, and ‘Bhagam Bhag’. They last collaborated on ‘Khatta Meetha’ in 2010.Besides Akshay, the movie will also feature Wamiqa Gabbi, Paresh Rawal, Tabu and Rajpal Yadav.Presented by Balaji Motion Pictures, a division of Balaji Telefilms Ltd, in association with Cape of Good Films, the film is produced by Akshay Kumar, Shobha Kapoor and Ektaa R Kapoor.Akshay and Priyadarshan are working on two more projects – ‘Haiwaan’, which will also star Saif Ali Khan, and the third part of “Hera Pheri” franchise.
