The Congress on Thursday alleged that Leader of the Opposition in the Lok Sabha, Rahul Gandhi, had received an open death threat from a man claiming links to the Karni Sena. The party held the “BJP-RSS ecosystem” responsible for fostering a climate of hostility against the Opposition.Congress general secretary K C Venugopal said “self-proclaimed Modi supporters” were issuing threats against Rahul Gandhi without reprimand from those in authority. He alleged that such incidents stemmed from a political culture of vengeance and antagonism encouraged by the ruling dispensation, both inside Parliament and at public rallies.Referring to former Prime Ministers Indira Gandhi and Rajiv Gandhi, Venugopal said Rahul Gandhi came from a legacy that had faced grave challenges and stood firm.Congress media and publicity department chairman Pawan Khera described the wider climate as a “Godse factory”, alleging the threat was not an isolated act but part of a calculated pattern. He claimed the video threat followed a sequence of political messaging. The controversy follows the circulation of a video in which a man identified as Raj Amera, who claimed to be the divisional spokesperson of the Karni Sena in Kota’s Udyog Nagar and recently appointed to the post, issued a direct threat. Referring to an alleged incident involving 25 Opposition MPs and the Speaker, Amera said such conduct would not be tolerated and held Rahul Gandhi responsible.
