The BJP on Tuesday unveiled its ‘Sankalp Patra’ in Assam, outlining an ambitious roadmap that includes implementing the Uniform Civil Code (UCC) within three months of coming to power.The manifesto was launched in the presence of Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman, Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma, Union Minister Sarbananda Sonowal and state BJP president Dilip Saikia. It comprises 31 promises, including recovering land encroached upon by illegal immigrants and providing land rights to all genuine citizens of Assam under the ‘Mission Basundhara’ scheme, as well as creating employment opportunities for youth. What manifesto promises Recovery of encroached land from “Bangladeshi Miyas”Law, other firm measures to end menace of ‘Land Jihad’Rs 5L cr investment to position state as India’s eastern gatewaySafeguard constitutional, social and economic rights of STsLand pattas to all eligible tea garden families and Rs 500 wage2 lakh govt jobs and more entrepreneurial opportunitiesFinancial benefit to women beneficiaries to be hiked to Rs 3,000Annual support of Rs 11,000 for every eligible marginal farmerOn the development front, the party pledged a massive investment of ₹5 lakh crore to boost infrastructure across the state. The proposed spending will focus on improving connectivity, urban expansion, and economic growth, aligning with its broader vision of building a “Viksit Assam.”The BJP also promised to work toward granting constitutional status to the autonomous councils of the Mising, Rabha, Sonowal Kachari, Thengal Kachari, Deori, Tiwa and Boro Kachari tribes. Additionally, the party will provide 2 lakh government jobs and create more entrepreneurial opportunities through various schemes, while increasing the financial benefit to women under the ‘Orunodoi’ scheme from Rs 1,250 to Rs 3,000 in a phased manner.To strengthen income security for farmers, the BJP plans to expand the ‘Mukhya Mantri Krishi Sa Sajuli Yojana’ to PM-KISAN beneficiaries, ensuring annual support of Rs 11,000 for every eligible small and marginal farmer. In the health sector, the party will invest Rs 50,000 crore to position Assam as a premier hub for world-class health infrastructure, including advanced cancer treatment through proton therapy.The manifesto also promises holistic development for tea tribe communities by providing land pattas to all eligible tea garden families, ensuring Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana houses, giving Rs 75,000 to land patta beneficiaries with existing houses for repair and maintenance, and gradually increasing the daily wage to Rs 500.
