Punjab BJP chief Sunil Jakhar has warned of indefinite protests across the state if the Punjab government opposes CBI probe to ascertain the role of Laljit Singh Bhullar and others in Gagandeep Singh Randhawa’s death, and if corruption charges aren’t pressed against Bhullar.Bhullar, his father Sukhdev Singh Bhullar, and personal assistant Dilbag Singh have been booked for abetment of suicide following the death of a state warehousing corporation official Gagandeep Singh Randhawa.Talking to The Tribune, Jakhar said that the BJP will not tolerate such ‘criminal acts of corruption’ where an educated officer was pressurised for ‘personal financial gains’.“There must a strong reason as to why the Punjab government is not pressing corruption charges and not ordering a CBI probe against their own former minister,” he said, as he held a protest march in Patiala’s old city area.Further, demanding a CBI probe, Jakhar further told TNS that the state government should immediately ‘order a probe by CBI’ to nail their corrupt minister.“The high moral ground that the AAP government claims in public is merely a bundle of lies as this case has proved to be the last nail in their coffin. From the day they took over Punjab reigns, the police in the state have been compromised and so is law & order,” Jakhar commented.Based on a complaint filed by the deceased’s wife on Saturday, a case was lodged at the Ranjit Avenue police station against the former minister, his father Sukhdev Singh Bhullar and his personal assistant PA Dilbag Singh. The three accused have been booked under Sections 109 (abetment of suicide), 351(3) (criminal intimidation by treating to cause death or grievous hurt) and 3(5) (common intention) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), said Gurpreet Singh Bhullar, Amritsar commissioner of police. In her complaint, the deceased’s wife said that the former minister had applied for tenders floated by the PSWC for the construction of new godowns under the name of his father.
