Ahead of the presentation of Budget 2026-27, Delhi Legislative Assembly and Speaker Vijender Gupta on Tuesday received bomb threats via email, triggering heightened security measures across the national capital.According to officials, an email was sent to the Assembly’s official email account at around 7:28 am warning of a plan to blow up the premises. Shortly after, at approximately 7:49 am, a similar email was received on the personal email account of Speaker Vijender Gupta.The threat extended beyond the Assembly complex, with the nearby Vidhan Sabha Metro Station also reportedly receiving a bomb threat.The contents of the email mentioned several high-profile political figures, including Lieutenant Governor Tarunjit Singh Sandhu, Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Union Home Minister Amit Shah, and External Affairs Minister Subrahmanyam Jaishankar. It also referred to Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta and Cabinet Minister Manjinder Singh Sirsa.Security agencies rushed to the Assembly premises and the metro station soon after the alerts were received. Bomb disposal squads and sniffer dog teams have also been deployed to conduct thorough checks.As of now, no suspicious object has been reported.Officials said that cyber teams are tracing the origin of the emails, and an investigation is underway to determine the credibility of the threats.All standard security protocols are being strictly followed .Further details are awaited.
