Mohali: National spokesperson of the Adhikar Sangharsh Party Iqbal Singh Bal has condemned the statement made by Kangana Ranaut, Member of Parliament from Mandi in Himachal Pradesh, in which she said drugs came to HP through Punjab. Bal appealed to the senior leadership of the BJP to take action against leaders like Kangana for issuing “irrelevant statements”. Bal advised Kangana to help the flood-affected people in her constituency instead of giving out such statements. TNS
Councilors seek vigilance inquiry
Sangrur: Four municipal councillors and two former presidents of the Sangrur Municipal Council on Saturday urged Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann to order a vigilance inquiry into the alleged misuse of development grants, worth crores of rupees, spent on laying of sewerage pipes, laying of water supply pipelines, installation of street-lights and laying of interlocking tiles etc in Sangrur city during past several years. Road renaming
Sangrur: A former general secretary of Punjab Pradesh Congress Committee (PPCC) Rajinder Deepa from Sunam has accused the state government of doing politics by renaming a road, Bhawanigarh-Sunam-Bhikhi-Kotshamir as ‘Shaheed Udham Singh Marg’. It had earlier been named ‘Maharaja Aggarsain Marg’ by the Punjab Government through a letter, issued on December 12, 2021, by Principal Secretary, PWD, Punjab. OC
3rd batch of teachers to visit Finland
Patiala: The third batch of primary school teachers will soon be sent to Finland to learn modern teaching practices, said Education Minister Harjot Singh Bains on Saturday.He said this interacting with teachers of Patiala as part of the government’s ‘Dialogue with Teachers’ initiative. The session began with a two-minute silence in the memory of the seven children who died in a school roof collapse in Jhalawar, Rajasthan. He credited the dedication and feedback of teachers for the improved performance and said that no union member had been victimised under the current regime. — TNS
