Freedom fighter Shaheed Udham Singh’s alma mater has been given a new look, with Cabinet Minister Aman Arora inaugurated the renovated heritage building.Built at a cost of Rs 1.87 crore, Shaheed Udham Singh School of Eminence holds a very important place in raising the standard of education in the area.The school building constructed in 1905 lay in a dilapidated condition, awaiting renovation. “The school is associated with the memories of Shaheed Udham Singh. Previous governments paid no attention to improving the condition of the school, which had even put its very existence at risk,” said Arora.The minister said Sunam was the land of Shaheed Udham Singh and cannot be ignored, adding, “Every necessary work in the constituency was being completed on a priority basis.”Extending best wishes to the students for a bright future, he said one must have set goals to succeed. He expressed hope that soon, girls studying at the school will shine in various fields and bring laurels.He said that with good infrastructure, students’ self-confidence and communication skills will be bolstered.
