Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann on Saturday launched a scathing attack on the BJP-led Centre, accusing it of “selling the sovereignty of the country to the US”.Mincing no words, Mann asked about the US “giving permission to India to buy Russian oil”. “Do we have to seek permission from White House for everything now? Has India’s sovereignty been lost? Prime Minister Modi should clarify on this,” said the Chief Minister.Mann said the Punjab Government would oppose the Electricity Amendment Bill, slated to be introduced in Parliament on March 10.“Power, just like health and education, are state subjects and we won’t allow any central interference in state subjects. We will oppose this tooth and nail,” he said.When asked about the ruling party painting state transport buses in the AAP colours, Mann said the buses were private ones, being operated in the kilometre scheme. “The bus operators are free to go in for any colours they want. But those questioning this should first tell the masses why they painted the amphibious buses bought for Harike and the state government helicopter in Akali colours?” he said.30 school principals sent to Singapore for trainingMann also flagged off the eighth batch of 30 government school principals for training at the Principal Academy in Singapore from March 8 to 14.So far, 234 principals and education officers have been sent to Singapore for training. On this, Mann wrote on X, “Our government’s goal is to ensure that the children of Punjab receive world-class quality education. In line with this vision, we are continuously providing international-level training opportunities to our teachers and principals.”Lays stone for Rs 137 cr projectIn the day, Mann also laid the foundation stone for a Rs 137-crore rural link road project in Khemkaran and said the AAP government was focusing on strengthening infrastructure, employment opportunities and improved public services in border regions.
