Chandigarh Police have confirmed that 26 schools in the city have received threatening messages and calls, warning of potential bomb attacks.Providing update, SSP Kanwardeep Kaur said: “So far, of 26 schools, security teams have conducted thorough checks at 10 of these schools, and no suspicious objects have been found.”Kanwardeep Kaur said that the email IDs from which the threatening messages were sent are being investigated by the city’s cyber cell.“The police are actively tracing all digital leads to identify the perpetrators,” she said. In response to these threats, an FIR has been registered at Sector 17 police station, and the investigation is ongoing.When asked about previous threats received by the High Court and District Court, SSP Kaur stated that those investigations are still underway. She said the police are working to connect all leads to ensure a comprehensive understanding of the incidents.The SSP appealed to school administrations, students and parents to remain calm. “There is no need to panic. Chandigarh police are fully alert, and security measures have been strengthened at all schools. Teams are continuously inspecting school premises, and the situation is under constant monitoring,” she said.Authorities, earlier in a release, said that public safety was the top priority and that any suspicious activity should be reported immediately.Parents and students have been advised to cooperate with security personnel and follow guidelines issued by school authorities.The police have assured residents that all necessary steps are being taken to prevent any untoward incidents and that continuous monitoring would continue.
