An alleged clash and firing disrupted voting for the Fattu Dhinga block samiti chairman in Sultanpur Lodhi on Wednesday morning. The polling will now be held on April 4.The police have lodged an FIR over the firing, which allegedly took place when seven AAP members and eight backed by Independent MLA Rana Inder Partap Singh gathered outside the BDPO office at Dhilwan around 10 am.The MLA went live on his Facebook page, alleging that while member Palwinder Singh Hothi was dragged away by AAP supporters to an unknown location, documents of two candidates — Sukhwinder Singh and Mal Singh — were snatched by them. Rana alleged that it was an AAP supporter who opened fire. Kapurthala SSP Gaurav Toora said, “We have lodged an FIR against unknown persons for firing. we will verify allegations against the person named by him and collect ballistic evidence of his weapon too.”AAP halqa incharge Sajjan Singh Cheema alleged that three members wanted to join his party but wary of dissidence, the MLA “kept them with him”.“Our party men wanted the three persons to be set free so that they could cast vote on their free will and hence the clash occurred,” he added.SAD wins Phul electionBathinda: The SAD secured positions of both chairperson and vice-chairperson of the Phul panchayat samiti in Bathinda. Mandeep Kaur was elected the chairperson while Kiranjeet Kaur bagged the post of the the vice-chairperson.
