An 18-year-old Class 11 student was found dead near the railway line close to Bahawalbasi village on the outskirts of Abohar on Friday night, police said.The student is suspected to have died by suicide.Malvinder Singh was a resident of Pakka Seed Farm area. After the body was spotted, the Government Railway Police (GRP) rushed to the spot and initiated proceedings. The body was shifted to the Civil Hospital for post-mortem.Police said action has been taken under Section 194 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita based on the family’s statement.Assistant Sub Inspector Ajit Singh said the police received information about the youth found hanging from an electric pole along the railway track. A team led by GRP station in-charge Satish Kumar reached the site and began an investigation.During the preliminary inquiry, a mobile phone was recovered from the deceased’s pocket, which helped the police establish his identity.The family told the police that Malvinder had left for work in the afternoon. When he did not return and his phone was found switched off, they started looking for him.
