Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Saturday accused the Congress of “tarnishing India’s image” out of frustration over repeated electoral defeats. He added that while the Congress was once known as the INC — the Indian National Congress — it had now transformed into what he called “MMC — Muslim League Maoist Congress.Speaking at a public rally in Ajmer, Modi alleged that the Congress was attempting to weaken the nation and undermine its global standing. He said, “History bears witness that the Muslim League hated India, and that is why it partitioned the country. Today the Congress is doing the same. Maoists too hate India’s prosperity, our Constitution, and our successful democracy. They attack from ambush. The Congress also sneaks in anywhere to defame the nation. The country will never forgive such misdeeds of the Congress”.He also accused the grand old party of defaming India during major international events. Referring to a recent India AI Impact Summit held in Delhi, which was attended by world leaders and top industry executives, Modi said India received widespread praise on the global stage. He questioned why, at a time of international recognition, Congress leaders chose to criticise the country in front of foreign dignitaries.Highlighting national security, Modi said over the past 11 years, India’s armed forces had acted decisively against terrorism and external threats. Mentioning operations such as surgical strikes and “Operation Sindoor,” he said the military had demonstrated valour and strength, while alleging that Congress leaders had amplified narratives that weakened national morale. He further accused previous Congress governments of neglecting defence preparedness and delaying the “implementation of One Rank One Pension” for veterans.Turning to Rajasthan, Modi said the state had experienced “misrule” under the Congress, marked by corruption and internal conflicts. Addressing long-standing farmer grievances, Modi noted the current government is committed to bringing the ERCP project to life. He emphasized that the campaign to interlink rivers, including the modified ‘Parvati-Kalisindh-Chambal’ and ‘Yamuna-Rajasthan’ link projects, will provide certain and significant benefits to the farmers of Jhalawar, Baran, Kota and Bundi. He asserted that the people of India were responding to Congress’s actions through the ballot box, saying the country would not forgive attempts to weaken national unity or reputation. In Ajmer, Modi inaugurated and laid the foundation stone for development projects worth Rs 17,000 crore in Ajmer, covering sectors such as urban development, roads, irrigation, drinking water supply, energy, and industrial infrastructure.
