Delhi govt suspends 3 Jal Board officials after biker falls in pit and dies

Delhi water minister Parvesh Sahib Singh on Friday said three officials have been suspended after a 25-year-old biker fell into a pit dug by the Delhi Jal Board (DJB) and died.Speaking to the reporters, Singh said, “A junior engineer, an executive engineer, and an assistant engineer have been suspended.”Moreover, the minister added that action will also be taken against the company to which the tender for completing the work was awarded.He mentioned that work in the stretch where the accident took place had been going on for the last three months.“Barricades had been set up 100 meters apart on both sides. A large pit was dug here in the last two days. There was no traffic movement in this lane on this side. The incident that happened here yesterday is very tragic,” Singh added.Singh also stated that a committee has been formed, comprising director-level officers, which will submit a report within 24 hours.In the wee hours of Friday, 25-year-old Kamal Dhyani, who was returning from the office on a bike, fall in the pit and died.
