The alleged AI-generated distorted text projected as Guru’s “bani”, displayed on hoardings at Beri Wala Bagh Shamshan Ghat in West Delhi has triggered a fresh row.Acting promptly, the Delhi Sikh Gurdwara Management Committee (DSGMC) removed the controversial boards after the matter was flagged by Harmeet Shah Singh, Communications and Advocacy Director for United Sikhs (UK), who noticed it while attending a funeral.Talking to The Tribune, Harmeet Shah said the written text appeared authentic at the first glance but careful observation revealed that the portion having “commas” never existed in Gurbani.Shiromani Akali Dal (Delhi) president Paramjit Singh Sarna said DSGMC member Tajender Singh Gopa visited the site and ordered immediate removal of the objectionable boards.Sarna has appealed to the Sikh community in general and Sikh bodies in particular, to be vigilant against such “fabricated” texts projected as “Gurbani”. “The misuse of Artificial Intelligence (AI) tools to generate and circulate fabricated sacred writings presented a serious challenge, particularly when such material appears in public spaces,” he said.
