As SAD flagged a threat to Bikram Singh Majithia in Nabha jail, Gurinder Singh Dhillon, head of Dera Beas, on Monday visited the Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) leader amid tight security. This is his second meeting with Majithia in four months, the previous visit having taken place at the end of September.SAD had also sought the Punjab Governor’s intervention after they flagged the issue. The last meeting inside the jail lasted around 30 minutes. Afterward, Dhillon briefly addressed a group of devotees gathered outside the jail and then proceeded to Hira Mahal, the residence of Nabha’s royal family descendants, to meet family members. The jail administration has denied entry to several senior SAD leaders seeking to meet Majithia. Leaders including Daljit Singh Cheema, Sikander Singh Maluka, Mahesh Inder Grewal, and Virsa Singh Valtoha were stopped at the gate, with authorities citing rules that allow visits only from family members.Majithia is currently lodged in Nabha jail in connection with a high-profile drugs-related case. The Vigilance Bureau (VB) arrested him on June 25 in a disproportionate assets case allegedly linked to the laundering of ₹540 crore of drug money. A 40,000-page chargesheet in the case was filed in a Mohali court on August 22.The FIR against Majithia stems from a 2021 investigation by a Punjab Police special team into drug-related activities. He was earlier booked under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act and spent over five months in Patiala jail before being granted bail by the Punjab and Haryana High Court in August 2022.Radha Soami Satsang, headquartered in Beas town near Amritsar, has followers across Punjab, Haryana, and Himachal Pradesh. Dhillon’s unexpected visit has sparked speculation in both political and religious circles.
