U.S. President Donald Trump said on Wednesday (June 4, 2025) he had spoken again to Russian President Vladimir Putin, but warned that a Ukraine ceasefire remained distant and said the Kremlin leader vowed to retaliate after Kyiv attacked Russian bombers.
“It was a good conversation, but not a conversation that will lead to immediate Peace. President Putin did say, and very strongly, that he will have to respond to the recent attack on the airfields,” Mr. Trump said on his Truth Social network.
The call that lasted for an hour and 15 minutes was Mr. Trump’s first known with Mr. Putin since May 19, 2025.
Mr. Trump said he and Mr. Putin also discussed Iran’s nuclear programme.
