US President Donald Trump on Tuesday said the US had been informed by most of its NATO allies that they did not want to get involved with the country’s military operation in Iran. “Because of the fact that we have had such military success, we no longer ‘need’, or desire the NATO countries’ assistance — we never did!” Trump said, also singling out Japan, Australia and South Korea.Meanwhile, head of the National Counterterrorism Center Joseph Kent resigned on Tuesday, becoming the most senior member of Trump’s administration to resign over the war in Iran. “I cannot in good conscience support the ongoing war in Iran. Iran posed no imminent threat to our nation, and it is clear that we started this war due to pressure from Israel and its powerful lobby,” Kent said.Trump is delaying his trip to China that had been planned for months as he pressured Beijing to use military might to protect the Strait of Hormuz.
