Widespread protests erupted in Patiala and its surrounding areas following the arrest of farm leaders and Kisan Mazdoor Morcha (KMM) activists in Amritsar and Sangrur.More than 30 farmer leaders and workers were detained over the weekend. Those detained included farm leader Sarwan Singh Pandher, Dilbagh Singh Harigarh and Jaswinder Singh Longowal. The arrests were made in Amritsar on Saturday and in Sangrur on Sunday.BKU (Azad) state president Jaswinder Singh Soma, BKU (Azad) leader Dilbagh Singh Harigarh, and Sangrur residents Jaswinder Singh and Sant Ram were lodged in the Patiala jail. The arrests sparked protests across the region. Farmers blocked traffic near Phagan Majra village on the Sirhind road and at Sidhuwal village on the Bhadson road. The protesters raised slogans against the government, demanding immediate release of their arrested leaders.
