A day after an elderly farmer from Maur Kalan village died due to a cardiac arrest as the local grain market, a large number of farmers lodged a protest outside the Maur Market Committee Office.The protesters also gheraoed local MLA Sukhveer Singh Maiserkhana, the chairman and the secretary of themarket committee for nearly five hours. They demanded compensation for the familyof the deceased farmer,Gurdev Singh. The farmers dispersed after the police assured them that a meeting would be held on Sunday to the discuss the matter. They, however, maintained that the protest would continue until the demands are met.
