Former minister Lal Singh (84), who passed away on Saturday, was cremated with full religious rites and government honours at Bir Ji’s crematorium along the Rajpura road here on Sunday. The pyre was lit by his son and former MLA Rajinder Singh.Additional Deputy Commissioner (Urban Development) Navreet Kaur Sekhon paid tribute to the departed soul on behalf of Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann. Tributes were also paid on behalf of the state government.A contingent of the Patiala police played a mournful tune and the jawans fired a salute to Lal Singh.Lok Sabha member Dharamvir Gandhi, Municipal Corporation Mayor Kundan Gogia and senior Congress leaders from across the state and a large number of current and former MPs, MLAs and leaders also paid respects to him.
