A major accident occurred at the Municipal Corporation (MC) today when a function was being held there to mark the completion of five years of the corporation. Suddenly, due to the bursting of the generator’s battery, acid splashed into the eyes of two employees, who were immediately admitted to Civil Hospital.Witnesses said that the loud noise was initially thought to be the bursting of crackers, but when some attendees went out of Town Hall, it was discovered that the generator battery had exploded. During the function, there was a power outage, and the need for a generator was felt. When Sanjay and Raju, two private electricians, arrived and started repairing the generator set by removing its battery, the incident occurred. As the generator didn’t start, sudden sparking caused part of the battery to burst, splashing acid drops into their eyes, and they started screaming.Meanwhile, other corporation employees and social activist Bittu Narula immediately washed the victims’ eyes to prevent further damage from the acid. Seeing the serious situation, the victims were taken to the hospital, where doctors said they were undergoing treatment. Eye specialists would be called to examine them and proceed further.
