Scott L. Schwartz, a wrestler-turned-actor, famous for his role in the ‘Ocean’s Eleven’ film franchise, died at age 65. According to reports, he passed away of congestive heart failure at his home in Covington, LA, on November 26. In a statement to The Hollywood Reporter, Schwartz’s wife, Misty confirmed the sad news saying, “Most people associate Scott with the movies, but those who know him personally associated him with being a jolly person, so full of life, a strong loving person, foodie and travel aficionado.”“Scott truly loved life and everyone that he met along the way. When he wasn’t acting, wrestling or telling jokes he spent his time visiting children with cancer at children’s hospitals,” she added.Following the news of his demise, actor George Clooney, who starred alongside Scott in the ‘Ocean’s Eleven’ franchise, paid tribute. Sharing his condolences with his former co-star’s grieving family, Clooney wrote, “I’m sorry to hear that Scott is gone. We did three films together, and I’ve never been so gently punched. He was a gentle soul and will be dearly missed,” according to Variety.Schwartz was best known for his role as Bruiser in Steven Soderbergh’s Ocean’s heist trilogy. His character, who appeared in all three films, was hired by Clooney’s Danny Ocean in the first movie to stage a beating during the group’s heist.Schwartz, who began his career as a professional wrestler under the names “The Israeli Commando” and “Giant David,” transitioned to Hollywood as a stuntman before taking on acting roles. He appeared in popular television series like ‘Star Trek: Deep Space Nine’, ‘Martial Law’, and ‘Buffy the Vampire Slayer’. His film credits include ‘Fun with Dick and Jane’, ‘Starsky & Hutch’, and ‘The Scorpion King’.Schwartz is survived by his wife Misty and their two children, Angela and Adam.
