Shamsher Singh, father of fugitive terrorist Satinderjit Singh, alias Goldy Brar, was on Wednesday discharged from a private hospital in Bathinda and sent to the Kapurthala jail. He was admitted here with cyst-related complications on Sunday.Muktsar SSP Abhimanyu Rana confirmed to The Tribune that Shamsher was being taken to the Kapurthala jail following his discharge from the hospital.Shamsher Singh and his wife Pritpal Kaur were arrested from Amritsar on January 26 in connection with a 2024 extortion case registered in Muktsar. After completing a four-day police remand, both were sent to judicial custody on January 30.While Pritpal Kaur was lodged in the district jail at Muktsar, Shamsher was not shifted there due to security concerns. Sources said associates of the rival Bambiha gang are lodged in the Muktsar jail, prompting the authorities to decide against sending him there.He was then to be shifted to the Kapurthala jail, but his health deteriorated due to cyst-related complications. Shamsher was first taken to the Government Medical College and Hospital in Faridkot and was later admitted to a private hospital in Bathinda for treatment.Shamsher Singh, a former Assistant Sub-Inspector in the police, was given compulsory retirement in 2021. The family owns a house in Muktsar town.
