Days after the Congress claimed that the wife of Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma holds passports of three countries, the Centre denied the charges on Tuesday.Minister of State (MoS) for External Affairs Pabitra Margherita, during a press conference in Assam, said that India had tried to verify the Congress’ claims through official and embassy channels, but found these to be false.“After thorough verification through official channels with the stated countries, we have established that these passports are fake, fabricated and void. The documents are not correct and should not be deemed as correct,” Margherita said.He said the claims were meant to mislead the people of Assam, who would answer the Congress at the hustings.Congress media head chairman Pawan Khera had recently claimed that Riniki Bhuyan Sarma, wife of Assam CM Himanta Biswa Sarma, held passports of the UAE, Egypt, and Antigua & Barbuda.
