Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann has called upon the people of Punjab to adopt Quran’s teachings in their lifestyle, emphasising communal harmony, universal fraternity and sharing one’s prosperity with the poor and downtrodden.Greeting public on the occasion of Eid-ul-Fitr, Mann lauded residents of Malerkotla for strong social bonding and fraternity among members of different communities.Mann said the Aam Aadmi Party did not rule by dividing people or by spreading hatred. “Rather we following the saying – Hukumat woh kartey hain jinka dilon pe raaj hota hai, yunh to murge ke sar par bhi taz hota hai,” said Mann, appreciating that residents of Malerkotla celebrate festivals of Muslims, Sikhs and Hindus together. The Chief Minister announced that the Defence land measuring 38.5 acres, which was earmarked for the construction of a Community Medical College with 100 seats, had been transferred in the name of the Punjab Government. He said a 150-bed ESIC Hospital, nursing college and a 200-bed hospital were on the cards. He informed that the five-storey building of the Government Girls Schools was near completion. The school was running in two shifts earlier.Mann said special rights of Muslims regarding revenue matters would be protected at any cost. He said Malerkotla district, which had been facing some difficulties following its constitution, would soon get all facilities and infrastructure required for efficient administration.Contrary to earlier speculations about Eid celebrations being a low-key affair in the wake of the Iran-Israel war, a large number of Muslims gathered at Eidgah to celebrate Eid-ul-fitr as usual today.
