Hundreds of people, including Congress leaders and supporters, gathered at Sant Bana Sunder Das Ji Memorial Senior Secondary School in Takkhran near Machhiwara to pay tributes to Congress leader Parminder Tiwari, who was brutally axed over a 15-yard land dispute on March 29.The crowd was emotional as floral tributes were paid. Though state Congress chief and MP Raja Warring was expected to reach the bhog ceremony, he could not make it. MP Dr Amar Singh Boparai, Congress leaders Gurkirat Kotli, former MLA Lakhbir Singh Lakha, and Rupinder Raja attended, announcing plans to build a memorial for Tiwari.Tiwari was attacked near Machhiwara on March 29, allegedly by two men on a motorcycle, over a 15 sq yard land dispute. He died en route to the Ludhiana hospital.
