The Income Tax Department raid on the residence of former minister and senior Congress leader Sunder Sham Arora on Jodhamal Road here continued for the third consecutive day on Friday.The raid had begun around 6.30 am on January 28 and was continuing till the filing of the report.Strict restrictions were imposed on the movement in and around the premises. Only a few workers employed at Arora’s residence were allowed to enter after being questioned and issued necessary instructions.Meanwhile, officials refrained from making any comment.Cong leader ‘grilled again’However, according to sources, Arora was questioned regarding various properties and a company based in the Chandigarh–Mohali region.A source said the team forwarded its preliminary findings to senior officers following which additional queries were sent back for further questioning. This reportedly led to another prolonged round of questioning of Arora on fresh issues.Linked to real estate assetsAs per available information, the raid is linked to a construction company involved in a major township project in the Chandigarh-Mohali area.Simultaneous raids were also conducted at the offices of the company and residences of people associated with it.On Friday, an ambulance reached Arora’s residence on two occasions but was not permitted to enter the premises by the security personnel deployed there.Upon inquiry, the ambulance driver informed the officials that he had brought medicines from a private hospital. The medicines were collected and the ambulance was sent back.
