Kasim Khan–son of jailed former Pakistan Prime Minister Imran Khan–has accused the Pakistan government and military leadership of being directly responsible for his father’s deteriorating health, claiming prolonged solitary confinement and medical neglect have left him nearly blind in one eye.In a post on X, Kasim said the PTI founder has lost most of the vision in his right eye, with only 10–15 per cent eyesight remaining. He alleged that this was the result of over 900 days of solitary confinement, denial of blood tests, and lack of proper medical treatment while in jail.Imran Khan, 73, has been lodged at Adiala Jail since August 5, 2023, following his conviction in a corruption case. The former Pakistan prime minister has denied all charges, alleging that they were all politically motivated.According to The Express Tribune, the disclosure was based on a medical report prepared by Khan’s lawyer, Barrister Salman Safdar, under the direction of the Supreme Court of Pakistan. The report was submitted to a Bench led by Chief Justice Yahya Afridi.Following the submission, the Supreme Court ordered that Khan be allowed access to his personal doctors and permitted telephone contact with his sons, Kasim and Sulaiman. The Chief Justice stressed that all prisoners are entitled to equal medical care.Kasim further blamed the current regime, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, and Army Chief Asim Munir for what he described as “deliberate cruelty.” He also said he and his brother, who live in the UK, continue to be denied visas to visit their father.Separately, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Sohail Afridi criticised the government for “gross negligence” and questioned the credibility of official medical reports, noting that Khan’s personal physicians were not allowed to conduct a full examination.Meanwhile, the Islamabad High Court has ordered a detailed medical examination of Khan before February 16 as hearings continue on a petition regarding his prison conditions.
