FORMER Greek international defender Marios Oikonomou has suffered a serious motorbike accident in his hometown of Ioannina.
The 33-year-old, who only retired from the game in 2024, is said to have crashed into the car of a 63-year-old man right in front of the ‘Hatzikosta’ hospital.

According to reports, the six-time Greek international suffered serious cranial-encephalic injuries and he underwent emergency surgery.
He has subsequently been transferred to intensive care.
Oikonomou spent a large part of his career in Italy, gracing Serie A with Bologna, Cagliari and his last club before retiring, Sampdoria.
